Windows would've been armwrestling me about where we installed the Django package. Made my own site with Django while Windows would've been arguing with me about the path for my pip installs.ĭjango also makes it extremely easy to update with new content for SEO purposes. Python and Linux allowed me to fire the marketing people and handle that myself. Instead of playing golf, I used the free time that was opened up by automation to take over my marketing. That's what I'm able to do with Linux while my colleagues are tapping away in Windows, or worse, dictating to a secretary that costs $50,000 a year, gets sick and wants to take vacations. That way I never have to do it a second time. If I ever have to do something new, I make it a form. After I gathered the details about their claim, it takes me five minutes, and I already have all the work done. I run the script after the intial phone with a new client. All I have to do is pull the one they actually treated at and print it. Even medical releases for every hospital in the State. Everything I'd need from the fee agreement through an appeal is generated. That saves me $50,000 a year right there.Īll I have to do is declare my variables and run my Python script and an entire litigation file is prepared. I don't think I'll ever need a paralegal because of Linux and Python. Has anybody else used Linux Fedora in a small business / startup environment? Did you find that your productivity increased over using Microsoft products? Any suggestions for apps? With WPS Office and Hiri, I have access to a powerful and complete office suite at next to nothing prices. I also found the same for Thunderbird but paid $20.00 for Hiri. I found that software wise, LibreOffice just didn't work well enough for a business setting - but WPS Office does. The computer boots straight into Fedora and I start using it right away - no messy updates and no freezes, it just all works. I have found that I am so much more productive with Fedora than I was using Windows. Elementary O.S just felt way too basic for me and Ubuntu had hardware compatibility issues. I chose Fedora after experimenting with Elementary O.S and also Ubuntu. I made the decision to utilize Linux wherever possible for reasons of security and hopefully, stability. Generally speaking I would have chosen Windows and launched everything off that, but I wanted to try something different. I am in a fortunate position starting a new business where I can choose whatever O.S I want moving forward.
